Removing Silicon From Tank?

I'm setting up a 5 gallon tank as a first time fish keeper and before I add any water I wanted to see if somebody here had some suggestions.

On several of the glass walls there are smears of some kind of sealer (I'm assuming silicone) that I would like to get off. It's not a huge amount, maybe a couple of spots the size of a quarter. I know you can get various chemicals to remove it, but I don't want to kill the fish with whatever residue it leaves behind. Also I thought about trying a razor blade, but since the smears are so thin I'm afraid the glass will scratch.

Any suggestions on how to remove this stuff without making the tank toxic?

Razor blade. You can get one at autoparts stores that are made for getting stickers off glass.
