Is it just a bump? It's not slimy or fuzzy looking?
If its not fuzzy and just a bump... Well I'm not too sure :/
I'd maybe PM sakura8 or Olympia ...
It seems like a hard one to figure out

It's definitely a bump, it looks really smooth too...It's about the size of one of his scales and raised about...ugh I don't know how to describe it. Maybe half the height of a betta's eye? It's not raised much. Nothing's changed since I posted though, I'll try PMing, I don't want to treat it lightly just because he seems fine right now.

Hi KoriC.

There are two possibilities about Pickle's lump.

The first and most likely is the beginnings of lymphocystis, a viral infection that causes cauliflower like growths on the body. The infection can be mild or severe with lots and lots of cysts. It can not be treated but it is almost always nonfatal and clears up on its own within a few months. The only danger is if a cyst pops a develops a secondary bacterial infection or if the growths impede eating. Clean warm water and a good diet help boost the immune system.

The other possibility is that this is something to do with his dragon scales. I'm not familiar with genetics and scaling but it does seem possible that maybe his dragon scales are too thick in that area and possibly creating a lump. If that is the case, nothing can be done but it shouldn't harm him in any way.

He looks very good in every respect and very healthy. :)
