Opinions on breeding this Giant pair

I just got his pair of Giant HM betta yesterday. The male is just over 3 inches head to tail and the female is a hair under 3 inches. They are siblings 3.5 months old. Should I use a larger spawn tub than usual? what would the likely % of Giants from this pair be? Also any opinions of form or quality appreciated good or bad. Thanks.

Body is pretty good. caudal rather spade shape - in my country that is a fault, dont know about the USA?Canada. Ventrals are too thin. His anal could be better (can't explain, just looks not right). But he is young and has developing ahead of him.

The female is pretty much the same. But they're good enough to start on.

If you have another giant, I wouldn't inbreed. It might fix their disadvantages into the line.

Selfish me wants you to breed them! I don't know enough about plakat/hmpk form yet but they have good toplines and no deformities or anything, and they are simply beautiful fish. I think what indjo is referring to on his anal is how it curves but I'm not sure. I think you should definatly breed them and then work out a couple minor faults in future generations.

Thanks Indjo your input is very appreciated.

Matt I will most likely breed them and have to work out the faults going forward. Plan to slowly condition them for a couple weeks. They seem healthy are extremely active and always hungry.

It's a fault here too, at least in the show crowd, some breeders wouldn't bother with it unless the fish was spectacular in every other way. For pet fish they are fine :)

Is there a show class for Giants? Im not sure as Ive just joined the IBC yesterday. Could these faults be worked out with future breeding or would they be mostly locked in with an f2 spawning?

They can be bred out in the future but the further you inbreed, the harder it is to totally " clean' out.
If you don't have other options, don't think about and breed them. Who knows, you might get lucky and get some near to perfect fry. Take these fry to breed further.

In my country there is. Not sure about the USA/Canada

Good luck.

Not in my country. Spades are undesired. But they still appear from time to time.
