Water disturbance on the surface is no problem usually if you have the pebble box filled with pebbles :) if it is still a problem, just message me!
I love the Fluval Chi, but I liked the Fluval Spec V more. It just had more horizontal space and i liked that i was able to design it freely.

Thanks!
And yes, Mar if I decide on that one I'll message if I have issues. My son has a strong desire to keep his room a mix of asian and Caribbean themed. Strange mix and even more so taking into account it's a boy and an 8yr old at that! lol. Managed to get his dragon viv to fit into it now he wants a Betta and I need probably a classy asian theme tank to go into his style which makes the Chi high on the list! I'll take a week(hopefully) to decide.

I have two chi's. I had 3 but, it cracked when I was changing water. Just be careful not to hit the top corners as, they don't hold up well. However, I love the chi and I use two of mine as sorority tanks for my females. I also add aquarium filter fiber to the filter media. The chi filter media is thin and, you need to change it often, if you use IAL and/or substrate of some sort. The fiber helps add life to this. Also, either put in an area where there is good light or, get low life plants. The plants dont do well with the LED. Just some advice. I want to get an edge next. I love the way the filter is set up and it's a nice tank but..pricey.

You will be very pleased indeed!!! Congrats!

Yeah, if I didn't fall in love with the spec and edge I definitely would've gotten another one!!
Agent; your son has good taste!! The Chi waterfall/filter definitely fits. I think that the waterfall is what really attracted me to it!!

Agent13, I agree with the other comments--the flow with the rocks in place is hardly noticeable, and doesn't seem to bother my betta at all. It is substantially less than the flow from the Edge.

I get enough sunlight in this room that it's hard to get a good picture, but you can see the Chi during the day a bit better despite the brightness.

Yes, I had to baffle the edge's filter.. However compared to my other two tanks the Edge had much less disturbance from the filter. It will get plenty of sunlight for plants because he wants it to go on a table next to the dog's bed and across from the dragon. His pet corner lol( however the dog ends up on the couch haha). That is all next to his ceiling to floor huge window. The dragon and dog end up sunbathing together right there. I wonder if his fish will interact with them at all..

I leave my edge filter on max output and my betta seems loves it. She'll find the area where the current is strongest and just stay there swimming against it, like an aquatic treadmill, lol.

There are still quite a few areas on the bottom with low flow though, in case she feels like relaxing or sleeping.

This is true. Honestly I don't HAVE to baffle the filter but I like to just because he seems to get an attitude when his bubble nest gets disrupted lol. However after water changes and spot cleanings I do leave the baffle out for about an hour. It's a fantastic tank! But my son is super picky and I showed him the Chi and he is now totally set on that one! He even wants to get his Taekwondo masters to help give a true asian name to his fish and wants it put a decal or something with his fishes name in Korean on the tank lol!

Agent, Amazon has a great deal on the Chi right now for $46. Be sure to check there when you're pricing it.
