How hot is too hot?

I know that the general rule is 78 degrees for a betta, but I have read a lot that you can keep them at anywhere from 78-80 and they will be happy, but where is the cut-off for too hot? See, I'm worried because I bought a mini-heater, but it is made for tanks 2-5 gallons and mine is only a little over a gallon so it heats mine a little more (its currently at 82 degreees). is this ok, or too hot?

that temp is fine, but it shouldnt get any hotter than that. abouve 82 is for caring for sick fish, but not for a constant living enviorment

My fry are at 84 degrees, and they could stand even around 90 degrees for short periods of time, but I agree that high temps shouldnt be prolonged..
82 is perfect, jsut watch the temps to make sure it doesnt go too much higher
