Hi there Madi92, what a beautiful guy you have there I love his colors. As far as a name how about Magenta . I am sure you will get some great tips and information from the other members here. In the mean time you can read all the stickys here on Betta Care. Best of wishes to you and your new Betta.

He's lovely. I like the name Magenta as well.

The stickies on this forum are a good place to start, but here are my basic tips:
-Tank of at least 2.5 gallons.
-Small unfiltered tanks will need two 50% and one 100% change a week (use water conditioner)
-Heater! Bettas are tropical and prefer temps of 76-82*F
-Check all plants for rough edges. If a pantyhose snags, it will tear your bettas fins. I like live plants, but most silk ones are okay. Definitely check plastic plants, as they are notorious for tearing fins.
-Feed a varied diet. Check pellets for meat based ingredients. I feed Aqueon and Omega one brand pellets.

Hope this helps!

Yes, make sure your tank is heated. Oh, and your fish doesn't want to swim in cloudy water, so purchase a filter or do many water changes! <3

Good luck!
