Twitching?

I recently discovered my fish Jasper has ick, and I'm going to the pet store very soon to buy some Aquarisol and aquarium salt...I've found two sites online that recommended the treatment. I'm curious if there is a better treatment? Also, my fish has been "twitching" when he swims...his whole body will all of a sudden move, like a twitch. Is this because of the ick, or is there something else wrong with him?

Maybe he is twitching because he is itchy. I don't know about the medication that you described, but I would go with a medication such as Quick Cure or any other ick medication that contains malachite green as the active ingredient. This is the one type of medication that always seems to work, I have cured several cases of ick with it. Even if your fish store doesn't carry the same thing, just read the ingredients and choose the one with malachite green. Also, I wouldn't advise using salt in conjunction with another medication, as most of them already contain salt and you can overdose on it quite easily. This is what has worked for me. Good luck.

I've had him for about a week and a half.

was the tank you put him in cycled or was the water new? Is it tap water with dechlorinator , bottled or (hopefully not )distilled?

does he have white spots all over his body?
what i always use for ick is nox-ick. works pretty darn well.
what are your water parameters?

It he sort of twitching up against/off something in the tank like a decoration?

If so, it's called "flashing" and they do it when their scales are irritated (from something like ich).

I went to the petstore today, so my fish is undergoing treatment, and I can see a lot of the white specks have gone away. I plan on treating him for a couple more days, but he still sits at the bottom and is unactive, and his fins are not spread out. Is this going to change as he gets better, or will he always be like this? I know this is not healthy for a fish, so is there maybe something else wrong with him?
