Instant Ocean Holdfast Epoxy

I decided to divide my 10 g and went to PetSmart. The only dividers there were the TopFin ones. They would not stay in place and the clip wouldn't work. So, I decided to get some Instant Ocean Holdfast Epoxy and use it to keep the tank divider in place. It doesn't look "pretty" but I don't really care. Anyway, my question is... it still smells like chemicals and it's sat for 4 hours drying. It said it would dry in an hour. It is dry, but if you touch it your hand smells like epoxy chemicals. Is it safe to use? I do not have any fish in the 10 g, but I do need to get something in there because I have four snails that need to get into a tank (they've been in a cup since like 3 today) asap.

Well. I put the snails in into one of the divided 1/2s. I guess we'll see what happens. Crossing fingers.

You're going to have to home your snails elsewhere for the time being. The general rule for epoxy or silicone is to leave it until the smell is gone; regardless if it's dry or not.

They're already in the tank. The smell did go away after I added the water. I read on several forums and reviews of people using it (the Instant Ocean Holdfast Epoxy) with fish in the tank and letting it dry underwater, so I put the snails into the tank. I went with the Holdfast Epoxy over the silicone because it said it dried in 30 minutes, as opposed to the silicone which said 24 hours. I ended up waiting 5 hours, which isn't that long but had I known I was going to wait so long I would've just gone with the silicone.
