New Betta Mommy

Hey there everyone..... I just purchased a boy and girl beta for my home... they are in a breeding tank and are at this point separated.... Think they will make beautiful babies together....

I had another Betta named Renegade.. and learned my lesson about leaving the light on all the time.. so Now I'm leaving it off most of the time.

Any points or tips I need to know would be extremely hepful

Still looking for just the right names for them.

If you have never bred Bettas before I would recomend that you do some research on that subject...they have quite a few little ones...and there is a great deal of preperation involved.

There is a website, bettatalk.com, that has tons of info about breeding and care of the fry.

You could put them togeter anytime after he builds the bubblenest, but make sure you don't leave them together..as soon as they breed ..the egg will drop out both the male & female will collect them up in thier mouths and stuff the eggs up into the bubblenest..then get her out of there ASAP otherwise when his protective instincts kick in he will attack her.

Hang on a sec... he is strarting it.... they are in the same tank but separated... really seem to get along... He's flaring like crazy and she denately seems interested... everytime he flares at her she lowers her bottom fins... Then he goes and starts making his nest again.... They are so cute

Just make sure you don't allow your bettas to spawn until you are really ready to take care of the fry. You'll need to start culturing live food for the fry to eat as well as have a place to put all the bettas when they get older.
