Fin and Tail Regrowth

If your fish has a severe case of fin rot, and loses 2/3 of his tail, including the supporting spines... do they all regrow? Or will it always be short? I'll love him either way, though.

I think that it should. Once there was someone on here who rescued a betta from a pet store where it was in a tank with other, bigger fish. They posted photos, and when they got it, it had very little tail left. Well, it grew out to be beautiful and colorful in time. I'm sure every case is different, but I would expect at least some regrowth.
