I also love the ebi but I HATE the filter. I cannot stop the constant annoying rattling sound it makes. I've tried everything, believe me. I wouldve expected more from Fluval. I have the fluval U3 and it is SILENT. Not so the nano filter that comes with the ebi. I went online and seems that many others have this are issue. so just a heads up on that. I'm planning to replace the filter, and everything else about the tank I love.
Yeah the U filters are really great... I'm planning on switching out my EDGE's power filter with a U1 at some point. (these AquaClear's are way too rattly)

A lot of love for the Spec V here, understandably.

I suppose I could get a light upgrade for it. Like one of these:

http://www.aquavibrant.com/index.php...x-fugeray.html

http://www.adana-usa.com/index.php?m...roducts_id=667

That Archaea would have to clamp in the middle, which might require some mods to the cover, etc. It is also kind of expensive.

Or this one:

Not quite long enough, but I might be able to aquascape around that.

Thoughts? You guys have been super helpful thus far.

If you go with that Eheim, note that the 9-gallon is on sale at Amazon for just $10 more! I have one of my bettas in a 12g Edge, and he is utterly crazy about it. I can't tell yet how it will be for the plants I put in it, though.

I'll note, too, that although I have read everywhere that bettas prefer horizontal space, my betta in the 12g Edge goes absolutely *all over the tank*, top to bottom. He really seems to love all the room and is constantly making bubble nests.

Pulled the trigger on an Aquastyle 6 gallon. $96.99 at Wag.com.

Should be here May 1, so get ready for pictures!

Ultimately, I like the dimensions of the Spec V, but between the lighting issue, need to modify the top for jumpers, and filter concerns, I just wasn't sold on it.

The Ebi is great, but man oh man, THANK YOU for the tip on filter noise. Lots of complaints about that online.

Once I found the Aquastyle deal, I couldn't say no. The 9 gallon is gorgeous, but the light is the same, so you just don't get the coverage and strength that you do with the 6 gallon.

Yay, new tank! Now I just have to decide who gets it. Probably my veiltail, who has worked very hard to grow back his tail after a fin chewing episode. He deserves a reward.

I can confirm this as well... My betta loves the 12 gallon Edge.

I agree. My guy in the Evolve 4 is all over the place. And it is a ton easier to deal with plants in there, since they don't get too tall virtually overnight. My long, short tanks require a lot more trimming and replanting.
