*facepalm* So I was at Petco...

Getting a gang valve for our air pump so that our bubbler wouldn't blow away our new bettas that we got on Monday from aquabid. And we (PeppermintHippo and I) paused to look at the cups, which are always quite pathetic at our Petco--Petsmart near us is great but the cups at Petco are so icky. (This one was no exception, his water was at around 3ppm ammonia)

And then I saw this guy...and he was the pattern and coloring that I was wanting for my next betta *in a few months or more down the road*. And he kept staring at me with his little fishy face and PeppermintHippo played a mean devil's advocate and before long I found myself walking out with him, a 5 gallon critter keeper and all the things I needed to start up a new unexpected tank. >.< I hadn't planned on getting one less than a week after my new pretty boy from Thailand!

But, without further ado, meet Domino! A blue and white koi-ish style double tail.

They are gorgeous! I wish our petco sold those types. What they have are blue, aqua, blue, blue..oh, and blue. All solid.

Our petco has prettier bettas as a whole but they're in worse condition and much worse water conditions, such as my guy's 3ppm ammonia water. The ones at Petsmart are pretty as well but we see a lot more EEs and double tails and random coloring and patterns that we don't see as much at Petsmart.

I was picking up heaters tonight, at walmart, and the craft supplies that was posted here, for making my own dividers. As I was looking at an air pump, I looked down on a dark, desolate shelf, and there were a bunch of bettas. They had no light and would easily knocked off. I was really mad but, it seems they are trying to sell the equipment, and not the bettas themselves. I wouldn't have even noticed them if I hadn't picked up the box with the air pump. Sad.

Yeah, that's really depressing. We were pleased to find that our nearest Walmart no longer carries fish at all, not sure when that change happened. Though the one second closest might still carry them, which makes me so sad to think about.

I don't blame you for inducting him in. I doubt that I could have resisted.

Oh what a pretty guy! I don't think I'd have been able to leave him there, either. :)

For some reason, his double tail reminds me of a pair of pants I used to own. Congrats! He's a beauty!
