The fattest betta.

Lan is a PIG! Any time I move anywhere in the room he swims up to the area where he is usually fed and acts like it's been weeks. I have been keeping to the suggested amount of two, three, and four pellets twice a day to avoid overfeeding but he's always acting like he's starving to death in there. Today, just to see, I kept the pellets coming. He got to eight before I cut him off.

Am I doing him right by keeping to the suggested amount even if he asks for, and will eat, more?

Pig boy...

Yes, feed him the 3 to 4 pellets twice a day. Bettas will eat themselves to death if given the chance. It's part of their instinct for survival to eat all food available at once, because in nature, food is not always abundant, and they don't always know when their next meal is coming.
