My first rescue in a long time!

So my brother (who is NOT an animal lover whatsoever, unless it's a horse) has had a Betta for about six months now, and of course like many people didn't provide him with anything they actually need. Now I hadn't been over to his house in quite some time, so I hadn't seen the Betta, but when I walked over and looked at him he was floating on his side in a bare half gallon tank. At first I thought he was dead, but thankfully I saw his gills still moving. I told my brother what was probably wrong, and told him to try fasting for a few days to see if it helped (he was being fed flakes to make matters worse). Unfortunately there was no progress, and so I offered to take him home with me to treat him. Luckily he agreed, after which I told him if he didn't mind I might keep him, to which he responded "I don't care." So here is the potential new addition to the family, Katherine (they know he's a boy, that's just what my nephew wanted to name him):

That's adorable I hope he pulls through, looks like a pretty red one.

I know, right? It's even funnier because it's the name of a very close family friend who lived with them this past year. :P I hope he does too, so he can enjoy a nice warm tank and get lots of love!
