Equiptment

If I went and bought a Betta fish what is exactly everything that I would need to care for the Betta fish? Right now I have an old Topfin Aquascene 2 tank that I found in my house. It has a hooded light fixture designed to UL and CSA specifications with a 15 Watt bulb. It also has a Aquarium Air Pump (A powerful, yet quiet air pump that will provide oxygen to the fish and provide water motion through the filter system to help keep the water clear and healthy for your fish) <<description on box. It is a 1.66 gallon crystal acrylic tank. It has a Undergravel filter system ( A filtering system designed Especially for the Top Fin Aquarium. Includes A Bottom Plate, Air Stone and Riser Tube. It Is Designed To Pull Waste and Debris To The Bottom Of The Tank To Kepp The Water Clear and Cut Down On Maintenance.)<<description on box
Can somebody please tell me everything else that I will need?

A heater, a thermometer, decor (silk or live plants)

you should definitely give this a read, but basically the biggest thing is a heater, unless the room the tank is in is consistently in about the 80's (the water temperature will be a few degrees lower than room temp), and a thermometer to monitor the temp with

a lot of people on here use prime, it's good stuff, 2 drops a gallon so it lasts for a long time and basically removes and/or detoxifies pretty much everything you'd want gone. medicine generally aquarium salt and epsom salt are the basic must haves, I wouldn't really bother getting anything else until you actually need it (assuming the salt isn't working) rather than have it sitting around till it expires

Aquarium salt, and epsom salt? or one or the other? Cause I have epsom salt, but I have no idea how to get Aquarium salt.

both, they get used for different things generally. you can get aq salt at most pet stores in the fish section, believe canning/pickling salt, ice cream salt, and a few others work as well. have to make sure it's pure salt with no additives.

:) the air bubbler/pump won't be necessary because bettas have labyrinths (a special breathing organ) which lets them get oxygen directly from the air. If you don't want it, you could just take it out.
