Temperature Shock

I noticed that the tank temp went from 27c to 29!! So I immediately turned the heater off.. What can I do now for my betta? How can I help him? He's near the top of the tank.. he seems quite bad

It'll be OK....

Just let the water cool down naturally. Don't try to rush it. Don't add anything to it.

Normally, it's 27C (81F). It only went up to 29C (84F). He may be feeling a bit warm right now, but he'll be OK.

It's kind of like you went outside on a hot day. You'd probably be a little hot and lethargic. But you would still be all right, healthwise.

Don't add anything to the water. Just let it cool down normally (slowly).

As the water cools down, he should start feeling better.
