my betta always swims away when i try to feed him is that a problem

if he's eating the food i wouldnt worry about it. he may just be nervous to see a giant human looking over his tank.
if he doesnt eat it right away you could leave the food in there (you may even have to leave the room for him to come up and eat it.) or until it starts to sink.
clean the food out and may want to try a different type of food
