One week update!

Excuse the cloudiness... Just performed a water change.

Phoenix has officially become the hardest to photograph betta ever. He zips around and around his tank without stopping ever. On the upside, his colours are coming in beautifully.

Beautiful and obviously happy boy. It's hard when they refuse to sit still and just as you are about to get that perfect shot they dart off.

Thanks, LBF. ^^ I imagine your fish are impossible to photograph as well. They look so swift and nimble.

I feel like his fins grew in the one week I had him. Is that possible? .___.

I've found some bettas grow new fin tissue remarkably fast. I have had bettas with pretty bad damage after spawning heal up in only a few days so it is possible.

I think if you feed them a higher protein diet it also helps encourage new growth.

I missed his initial introduction, was he in bad conditions previously?

He was my "rescue" from Petsmart. I found him floating on his side and unable to right himself and decided I couldn't leave him. He perked up within an hour of me introducing him to a warm, clean tank.

This was him a week ago:

It will never cease to amaze me what warm, clean water can do for so many of these bettas. Sometimes it's almost like they are relieved that they are finally in a proper tank.

Good on you for taking him in. He is much too beautiful to be left to die in a filthy cup.

I know. I couldn't believe my eyes when I checked on him and found him cruising around.

Thank you. I admit I was conflicted about getting him. I never successfully treated a sick fish and really wasn't sure if I could deal with him dying on me. I get awfully attached to animals... Plus, there were so many lovely, healthy marbles and dragonscales I saw at Petco and Petsmart that day. It seemed like a horrible idea to pass them up to get him and I put him back a couple of times. But in the end, I found myself returning to him.
