New crowntail (cambodian butterfly?)

We (my mom and me) took our neighbors kids to petsmart because one of them had a guppy that died last night. I have been looking for a cambodian male betta for a while now, and I went therer and saw this poor little guy in filthy water (thy had recieved a new shipment yesterday, but he was from the previous shipment) he was sitting on the bottom gasping. He has a tan body with a small white spot and purple and white fins. I put him in a 2 gallon bowl with aquarium salt and here he is just hours later (the lighting in the picture is mesed up, it makes him look blue, he is not blue at all though lol.)

careful with the salt bettas normally arnt very tolerant of high salt levels

I put half the reccomended dose in, and it seemed to help him (it said it reduces stress and provides minerals along with soothing gills (thought that they might need soothing after all the gasping and in an dout they were doing) and ect...

I know lol. I really didnt expect to find anything, let alone one that had been there for a while, hes not full grown yet either :) he was smaller than most of them and his fins are still pretty short so im assuming he is like 5 months old? anyways... i dont care if hes correct or anything, i think hes really pretty, and thats all my friend will care about if i do successfully breed and get fry.

I think i would have gotten him no matter what though, i couldnt leave him there... he looked BAD i didnt think he was going to even make it back to the house (in a 20minute car drive)

Congrats on your new fish! I wondered, how can you tell how old fish are?? I just got a new one who is much smaller than my other fish and I guessed that he couldn't be much more than a month old. Is there a way to tell??

this site shows betta growth from egg to 3months old, after that the growth slows down too much to be notisable in weekly pictures, but t hey will continue growing, then around 7months their fins will be done growing and they will be full grown.... sorry about the bad wording lol.

***QUESTION**** would he be considered a marble because of the white spot? or still cambodian because his body is 75% tan?
