Gray face/Sign of age

My male betta's chin(under mouth) seems to be graying. Kind of like when you have a black dog and they get older and get white around the muzzle. Is this a sign he is old, or is it just his coloring? He seems otherwise happy and healthy. I'm not really sure how old he is because a friend had him before me. Just wondering.

I obviously cant say for sure but thats what my first betta did... i know there are alot of things it could be though.

I have h eard though i dont know if its true, that they will lose some color if their water is too cold.
hope you find out whats going on :)
