Update and question on siphoning/"vacuuming" the g

So the neons have made it through their first day with Ernesto. I bought a mini sunken ship today for them to hide in (Ernesto cannot get into it, he has some plants). So far so good. They seem to be tolerating each other well, and right now the tank is happy.

I have to do a 25% - 50% water change tomorrow (Amonia is in "stress" level). My question here is, is it safe to siphon/vacuum with the fish still in the tank? I do not want to take them out and put undue stress on them if I don't have to. Help appreciated!

The only way you're going to siphon up a fish is if the fish decides he wants to go.

hi
don't worry about the fish unless they come to investigate,
then keep a check that you didn't get any sucked up.
but also keep an eye in the amount of water you are taking out,
i have kept too good an eye on a certain fish and not concentrated
on the water overflowing the bucket onto the carpet. lol

Unfortunately, until you get that bigger tank your ammonia meter will not ever stop reading "stress level". Any progress with that? It will make fish care so much easier and them so much happier if you do this (tolerating is one thing...flourishing and thriving are quite different).
