My betta tank sprung a leak!

What a nice thing to wake up to in the morning. I put him in a little fish bowl for now with the remaining water from his tank. I bought him a new tank and filled it with new conditioned water and the rest of the water that was already in his old tank. I left the media in the filter and just plugged it in for the new tank. So right now I still have him in his "torture chamber" bowl while the new tank is running for a while. My question is: How long should I wait to add him back into his new tank?
Thanks
Lori

hi
if you have transfered everything from his old tank
to the new one,and the water is up to the right temp,
then put him in.

Yikes! At least you caught it before it drained completely.

I agree - if you can transfer the substrate, decorations and the filter as well as some of the water, you're really just performing a big water change, so I see no harm in adding him as soon as the temperature is good. You might want to keep an eye on ammonia and nitrite levels though, since you might lose a decent amount of bacteria during the tank change.

Good luck, and let us know how it goes!
