I purchased a beautiful female betta two weeks ago and she has been settling in to a newly cycled 10 gallon planted tank. I noticed a metallic silver color in her gills and on her lower belly a couple of days ago. This evening, she started swimming around constantly, without taking a rest. I am worried it is velvet, although there is no "dust" on her. I shined a light on her, and the silver areas lit up, like reflectors. She looks healthy in every other respect, and still has a good appetite. I will try raising the temperature in the tank tonight (I had it on the lower end, because she shares the tank with some white clouds).
I care about her a lot, and am worried she may be ill. I would really appreciate any advice--I want to help her get better if she could be sick. Thanks you!
