Do young dragonscales with small tales get bigger ones as they get older

I saw a betta labled as a dragonscale at Petsmart today although I don't think he really as was he was light blue. Anyway, he has a small tale like a young female. I was wondering what kind of tail they normally end up with? I wasn't sure where to ask this but I figure someone breeding would know. He was a bit like this one but light blue:,s:0,i:244

Dragon is just a colour so can occur in any tail type. Male plakats have short fins so maybe you saw a male dragon plakat.
The pic you showed us is of a male dragon plakat

Dragonscale is a thickness to the scales, not color :)

And as mentioned already - looks to be a male PK - which will have short fins.
Here's a fin type/color thread that may help :)
