How does your Elephant Ear betta act? How does your Blind Betta act?

I rescued an EE he is partly blind (or barely sees from that eye) from the lack of care at the Petco. I can decide if he is having a setback with all his lethargy or if this if sitting on the bottom alot is just what I should expect from him. I have proceded with treatment regardless. Some days I am sure he is dead in the tank until I bump it.

my ee is very active when he thinks he's going to get fed. he explores the tank and paces at the front to beg for food, but he also does sit on the bottom or on leaves frequently... sometimes he will scoot himself along the bottom to get somewhere rather than swim, lol. he really doesn't like any current in the tank. i know he's doing fine because he reacts when he sees me, so i'm not sure if a blind ee would just sit around more because there's less to stimulate him?

He does get more excited and react to being fed. It's just a litte harder to feed him because he doesn't always see it. I have to take the lid off to get him to notice he is going to be fed. I wonder if I could always put garlic gard on his food to help him smell it to find it?

I may be answering this soon! my EE rescue is sffering severe popeye and may end up blind on one side. as far as behavior..well the boy is quirky and sweet! He does like resting. He perches on top of his heater to sleep or his betta hammock..or on the bottom. But other then that he really loves to move around!

I have another fish that got popeye after I treated him for parasites. Kanaplex seems to helping the popeye and his other problems. Popeye doesn't always cause blindness. Lets keep our fingers crossed.
