Heater problem?

So, I thought my old heater was busted so I went out and bought a new one (top fin 7.5 watt.) I put it in my 2.5gal tank maybe an hour or so ago. I don't see the temp on my thermostat going up. How long should it take to heat a tank that size?

I have a 2.5 g tank as well. My mini 10w heater took 3 to 4 hours. But these are preset so the temperature fluctuates quite a bit. Your best bet is to return it and get an adjustable heater. I got the elite 25w for the same price as my first one

Okay, I'll see where the temperature is when I wake up in the morning. This is the heater I got http://www.petsmart.com/product/inde...AvailInUS%2FNo

I wish the girl at Petsmart told this is a junk heater. I don't mind spending the few extra dollars. But, driving back and forth to the store is getting annoying, seeing how its 20 minutes away.

I hope I don't have to return it. I don't want my betta to get too cold.

This is the one I got.http://surramabou1973.blogbaker.com/...eater-mini-25w

I got it from petsmart for $24. Which is a really good price compared to other similar ones in other stores. U can return the one u have, they'll take it back even if its used..
