White tips on crowntail spikes?

On maybe 2-3 of the spikes there's a white part at the end. He's dark purple ish, so easy to spot. It actually seems like on one of them there's a white section and then it picks up as purple again, but mostly its just the tips. He's not white anywhere else, so it seems odd. Rather recent too, I've had him since last summer and there was none of that then.

Is this a thing that is bad, or just some benign oddness?

When the fins grow back on a veil tail Betta, the regrowth is usually white or clear, and it will change to the same colour as his/her fins as time passes..

I suppose it would be the same for a crown tail Betta...

Just keep an eye on him that his fins dont start to get shorter, as it could be finrot.. (although finrot usually is red or black in colour)..
