Rescue Inspiration

I have read many threads lately of people rescuing sickly bettas. So many, in fact, that I felt compelled to rescue one myself. So, after Mother's Day dinner yesterday, I headed to Walmart, where the fishies really do need help.

I was actually quite surprised at the decent quality of the betta selection. The water appeared to be quite fresh and the bettas quite healthy. But, due to the number of them in stock, I think the better than average conditions are because they probably just received a new shipment.

However, there was one poor little guy on a shelf all by himself, away from the others. His cup was deplorable! I knew without a doubt that this was the fish I was looking for.

Look at the poo in that cup!

Sad little guy!

He perked up a lot just with some fresh, warm water.

And he really likes his new hidey-spot!

He even felt sassy enough to flare for me!

I think he will definitely have some blue!

I think he is what is called a "pineapple" color. He looks to be in good shape, but he was definitely in trouble with that yucky water! Nice save!

Congratulations! He looks beautiful! I believe I see some Ich going on in the 5th picture of him on his scales and on his fins. Might want to watch out for that so you can treat it before it gets bad :)

Looks like he loves his new home thanks you! Good luck to both you and your new little guy!

The new guy, who remains unnamed yet, is so active today! And, he ate a nice, big supper of 4 Omega One pellets! His fins are also not nearly as clamped as yesterday.
