Remember also, not to breed DT to DT..this requires some study because of the defects, I would have to agree about larger tanks for spawns over 100 though, I am nit trying to be difficult just what I do is fine for me, I also did not add I split spawns that large and use 10s for those, still a 20 would be an asset for sure, its just that I can get 10s for dirt cheap.

I bred DT geno to DT... AND that turned out to be SO much harder. Next time, I am breeding DT to single tail, then F1 to DT. That wya I know that particular line.

I have used two tens for a spawn. And a 20 for whatever females I had once they got nitpicking about who was in their space

I have a HMDTxHM spawn going right now.. first time working with DTs, so will be interesting :)
As for larger spawns.. yeah, having larger tanks definitely helps.. just had a 550+ fry spawn a few months back.. needed all the big tanks I could get.. 10 gallons would not cut it! They actually went into the grow out tanks by 4 weeks simply because there were too many of them. So keep that in mind.. sometimes you'll get large spawns and you'll definitely need the room :)

But as mentioned, it's possible and fine to grow out in 10s, as long as you have enough of them and know how many are fine to grow in there.. just figured to throw it out that sometimes even 5 10 gallon tanks won't be enough lol :)

That is true. And good luck on your DTs! You can only cross Dt to DT once... then have to go back to single tail :3
