my betta died and i need help

i had 2 bettas and a tank, a female and a male.(it had a divider) about a couple days ago my femal betta was found dead when i walked in my room.
i had just cleaned the tank the day b4 and she had completely lost her color and had this slimy ick all over her body. i imediately took my male out of the tank and out him in another container. but yesterday i discovered that he was losing his color as well and had some of the ick oh his head. so i drie my best to clean it and everything but earlier today he was found dead as well.
does any1 know any info on this deadly diseise, if so plz reply or pm me about this.

theres a good chance that water in the divided tank is the one that killed them. How big is the tank?
what was your water changing schedual?
did you add anything to the water like stress coat?
and when you put the betta in a seperate container, did you use the same tank water?
