What is up with this fish???

Floyd has a problem, you guys. He has no idea what he wants to do with his life. First he was back and forth and back and forth and back again on his gender. He seems like he's gone back to wanting to be male. Now he doesn't know if he wants to be a Veiltail or a Crowntail. His teeny little spines have really deepened. Is this simply a result of breeding a CT & VT, or is this how Crowntails generally look around 3 months old?

I wanted to post a pic of Marley, too, just for giggles. He's just a grumpy little betta. Floyd has an awesome temper in comparison. Hardly ever flares. Marley won't even sit still for a picture. Grump.

Anyway, thoughts? CT or VT? A weird mixture of both? Please help!

Half sun's and Combtail's are a result of mixing VT's and CT's so it's likely he could turn out to be a Combtail, which he might be. But with the droop in his tail I doubt he would be either since they usually have a Delta or HM spread. He'll probably just end up a VT with a few spikes :) He's very pretty too and I love Marley's color! That blue, black and cellophane is just gorgeous!

Thank you! ^.^ They're all PetCo babies (in case you couldn't tell I know nothing about betta breeding ;P), so it's been awesome to see how they're turning out, especially since I love to take chances so I kept choosing the pretty colorless ones lol! They're definitely the most confusing pets I've ever owned!

Haha, I agree!! I also have two PetCo babies, both only about 2-2.5 months old as far as I can tell. One might be a CT and the other will probably be a VT, both males since I haven't seen any ovaries yet lol I'm happy to see your pair grow up so lovely though! Gives me a little more hope for mine haha
