Telling the difference in a male and a female

Hello my name is Megan and my question is, how can you tell the difference in a m/f?

Male bettas have long, flowing fins and females have shorter fins. Males also blow bubblenests.

Males belch and scratch themseves in public and are always early. Females enjoy shopping, being late for everything, and are ALWAYS right.

it makes a difference with what tail type but in almost all cases, males have long flowing fins and females rather short fins (male plakats DO have short fins though) the other tell tale sign is the egg spot on the female but i have one male with an egg spot also
