Two females

I have a male and a female, they are both in seperate bowls. I was thinking of getting another female. If i put the females in the same tank will they fight?

Yes, females will fight, too. The only way you can keep females together is to put 4 or more in a ten gallon tank or larger. The tank needs to have lots of plants and a couple caves for them to hide in. If you have just 2 in a tank, one will beat up on the other. With 4 or more, it spreads out the aggression and they will form a pecking order.

I have two females in one tank and they get along just fine. It's a 2.5 gallon tank and one female stays in one corner of the tank and the other stays in the opposite corner, they're both fine though and havn't been fighting.

I was concerned that they would fight and thus I watched them closely for the first few days I had them, but I've had them for about a month now and they're doing just fine.

I think it all depends on how aggressive your fish are, I'm sure it's not the same for every fish.

I have 5 girls in a 30 gallon w/a bristlenose pleco.... well pleco is being added tonight just finished quarentining. some of my females are more agressive than others some females can be more agressive than males it depends on the fish. each betta needs about 2 gallons or more.... if you go to petsmart or something like that you can get a 10 gallon for $11 or so and just get a cheap filter or transfer another. you cant keep females together in less than 10 gallons and its not good to keep less than 4 because that causes more fighting. you will need lots of hiding holes and plants/caves
