What size tank would I need for a betta and a school of cories?

I recently got my betta, and hes loving his new tank..he is currently in a 2.5 gallon, I would love to get a bigger tank for him but we don't have room in my house for anything bigger, and I will be going to college and living in a dorm in 2 months and plan on taking my betta with me so I really don't know how much space I will have for a tank but I think that I could find space for a 5 gal possibly..I've seen the dorms i'll be in and that seems like the biggest I would be able to do..So the cories come into play here because I think that they are gorgeous and I would really love to get some..I have heard of people just keeping one with a betta but with the little amount of reading I've done its clear that they are happier in groups. I know very little about cories..I'm not even sure how big they get or how to take care of them, all I know is I've seen pictures and I love them lol. But don't worry, I won't rush into anything before knowing I can take care of them! So, any info would be awesome!

Not even the smaller species (pygmy, habrosus) would be happy in less than a ten gallon, and larger species need even more room (though any cory will just love a larger tank, even the pygmies). The only companions you could have in a 5 gallon would be shrimp and snails. RCS are cool. :)

I'm with Bomba :) your best bet in a 5 gallon tank are invertebrates.

Thanks for the info, snails and shrimp really freak me out..I'm a strictly fish kinda girl lol. I guess that getting cories will have to wait till I have my own place and can get a bigger tank!
