Oh was the female at petco labeled as a veiltail? I find that petsmart and petco really suck at labeling their bettas. The only shop I found that labeled their bettas right is petland. They take pretty great care of them too! Never seen a dead one.

I found a blatantly obvious dragonscale male plakat being sold as a female veiltail at Petland. He was flaring all over the place and looked absolutely pissed.




Trust your instincts. Pet store labeling is often wrong. If you don't think the fish looks like what it says, it may not be what it says.

No it was just labeled as "Baby Betta". The baby bettas and mislabeling add to more confusion as the betta grows up lol

I personally think the tighter, rounder finnage and thicker, more streamline body is more characteristic of a PK than a VT.

Pet stores usually don't have the slightest clue about identifying bettas.
