high amonia lvl

Well I just got my new test kit and i tested the water for my betta tank and OMG the amonia is through the roof! Everything else is okay ph is a little high but still in the safe perameters water temp is 79 degrees. The 2.5 gallon tank is three weeks old with only an under gravel filter and I have been doing 50% water changes every three days. I want to do a complete water change now but im still trying to cycle the tank any advice? Oh and Snowball seems to be doing fine amazingly enough.

the tanks probably not cycled. go to a pet store and there is this stuff you can get called biosomething its the bacteria that breaks down the ammonia and stuff in your aquarium which is created through cycling, you can add fish 24 hours after you put this stuff in, so if you could get some tupperware or a bowl to keep him in for the 24 hours then you should be ok, you probably would only ahve to change the water once a week maybe every 5 days or so with a cycled tank.
