Fighting new home??

Hi, I just put my betta (who's been living in a bowl for a year) into a 10 gallon tank. He does not like the current of the filter... I looked for a gauge to try and lower the filter movement but it doesn't have one. AND... my betta has been exploring the tank but for the last hour or so he's been "fighting" the heater and the big black filter. Should I be worried or is he just getting used to his new home? Thanks!!!

I think he's probably just getting used to the filter and heater after living in a bowl. Do you think he might be seeing his reflection around the filter and heater area? As for the filter, other people will be able to tell you what to do about the flow.

Thanks for your quick reply! I don't see how he'd see his reflection, but maybe?? He's still there fighting the filter and now I'm worried about him being flared up so much!!! Do you think that would hurt his gills??

Maybe putting some plants around that area would help.

My fish H.R.G. flares right around his heater. He did this lots when I first got him but now he leisurely goes over there when he's in the flaring mood. I think your fish will get use to it or get bored with it.

I had flow issues also and didn't have an adjustment on my filter so I rigged it up with a 20 oz. soda bottle. I did this http://www.petfish.net/articles/Do-I...urrentkill.php

Im sure he will get use to his new diggs soon. Good Luck!

Oh yea, I would agree with drama, you could put larger plants in the back..or wherver the filter is, should kinda tone down the current.. I think.

Thanks for the replies!!! I hope Manolo Blahnik gets used to it soon!!!
I put a piece of poster board behind the tank in case he could see a reflection... hasn't really helped but maybe! Manolo took a short break from fighting and rested for about 5 minutes but has since been over there since he's woken from his nap!!! Thanks again ... please let me know if you think of anything else!!
