Thanks! This is the second day that he's been on the treatment. I haven't seen any improvement (not that I expected to). However, I am worried that it may be getting worse. I noticed that a larger part of his tail is now missing, though it looks like an infected part simply fell away. The end of this remaining part doesn't have black on it. Does this happen during healing process, or is he getting worse?

Yeah the rotted pieces will fall off from the salt treatment, that's normal. You can stop the treatment whenever you no longer see black on it, then starts the actual healing process. It generally doesn't heal until after the salt baths are done :)

This is what happens during the healing process. The infected part can't become uninfected, so it has to fall off to make room for the healthy tissue. As long as the end stays white/clear, it means he's healing up nicely
