I use a penn plax small world filter in my 2 gallon. Adjustable flow, easy... Been working like a charm. Here's the link:

I have an azoo for my 5.5 gallon. It is great for bettas because it has an adjustable flow, and does not make much current. Works great for a small aquarium .
