Atilla doesn't seem to like light

I have a betta in a 10 gallon tank kept at 78F and filtered and aerated at low currents. Basically, its a good home for a betta.

Yet he is still lying around the bottom of the tank when I have the fluorescent light on. I just turned it off and now he's hanging out around the top. Is this normal? Should I abandon the light or will he adjust?

It sounds like a great home for a betta. How long have you had your betta in this tank??

I'd say to give him a place to hide from the light, as no fish likes to be in the light 12 hours a day, or even 8 hours for that matter... Build him a little cave out of PVC piping or terracotta pots. also maybe throw in 1-2 low light plants like java fern/Cardamine...
