New Walmart Betta

I went to walmart and I got a betta. The poor things had wide cups but the water level was VERY LOW My mom was not very patient but I managed to get a girl betta to replace my poor Sunny... I do not have a name for her I was considering something Greek or Roman like Persephone or Minerva. Is there anything wrong with her by the way?

Hmmmm that might be a wild type boy, I did the same thing and the "girl" ended up being a boy so I donated it to my LFS lol

Pretty though, can't wait to see it fully colored up!

Yeah maybe it is a boy but I think I see an egg spot on he/she. Maybe its bloated? Oh and I feel stupid for asking this but... whats an LFS?

LFS = local fish store (basically a pet store that specializes in fish and is not a big box store like Petsmart)

Woah, I saw a betta that looked just like that yesterday at the Walmart in my town:

Very pretty. I love the wild look to your betta.

Thanks! Wow local fish store... I should have known that, sorry! It's really active right now, seems to not believe its not in one of those stupid tiny cups.

Haha np! I had to look up many abbreviations when I first really got into it as well, back when I wasn't on any forums ;-D

I'm glad it's active! That's great news! Yeah I thought I saw an ovipositer on my "girl" as well, turns out that young males can also have an imitator ovipositer. How long are the ventral fins? That will help a little, but the point in the anal is still making me question.

Here was my "girl, you can see the faintest look of an egg spot

And then it turned into a male lol I got it to flare with my girl Mystique who turns out to have a large beard as well! But you can see the imitator ovipositer between the ventral fins and now you can see the color too. But see how the anal fin slants? Females have more of a "boxy" shape.

Well, the ventrals are very small and thin. Does that help at all? By the way your male is beautiful! :)

I agree SerenaRena, i think that if walmart can not take proper care of their bettas, they should not carry them at all!
