Is it common for white faces to fill in?

Hi, guys. I tend to be really drawn to white faces in bettas and was considering breeding for them. However, my guy Courtland's white face has been steadily filling in with color, as you can see by comparing this picture with the one in my avatar. Is this common?

I think if they have the marble gene they can fill in. I have 2 out of 2 for white faces filling in. Love them though. If you breed for that I'll definitely take a fish :)

Did your guy change color slightly on the rest of his body too? Mine both did a little but not too much.

He is a marble, so not uncommon for patterns to change :( Which sucks sometimes as you fall in love with a certain look and a week later it's all different.. yet it can be fun, like a new fish every week or so :D

You could look into what many call "monster" bettas - they usually have colored bodies and white faces. See if you can work on those :)

Thank you! Yeah, he was advertised as a monster, and that is what I wanted to work on. I bought a female also advertised that way.

I thought monsters were just marbles. All my 'monster' bettas have always marbled out eventually. It's sad because you buy them because you like them and then they go and change colour on you.

Im pretty sure monsters are just a made up name given to marbles to make them sell easier. So yeah I'd imagine theyd change colour just as any marble would

So while one can breed for white faces, the white might always fill in? Hm. :-/

So is the green "monster" girl at the front of this picture also a marble? She is what I was going to breed to him.
