Damaged fins. Should I be worried?

When I first got my betta fish, all of his fins we damaged, like they were torn at the edges. I searched it up and it said that they should heal soon. However,it has been a month and there has been little progress. The anal and caudal fins seemed to have somewhat improved, but the dorsal and ventral fins don't seem to have changed much.

Can anyone tell me if everything is ok? Or should I be worried? And if so, what can I do?

Can you post a pic? Sometimes it takes a while for the fins to regrow. Was your tank completely cycled before you added him or is it filterless? Have you tested your water for ammonia, nitrites & nitrates? Do you add anything other than water conditioner to his tank? Does he have any tank mates? Sorry for the questions, you provided little info in your post so I don't know what stage your tank is in or your level of experience.

Here is a picture of him from when the last time I cleaned his tank. And well, I am not sure what you mean by cycling (sorry, this is my fish betta fish and first fish in general). And I don't know how to test the water, but I do completely change the water once a week. And I only add water conditioner.

I have just bought him a new tank and now it is a 1.5 gallon. Before, it was roughly about .25 gallon. I know that was really small, but that was the tank that I was given when I got him and they told me to raise him in it. When I found out, I bought a larger tank.

Well that's probably your problem. Even in a 1.5 gallon, you should be changing the water twice a week, one 50% and one 100%. It's really easy for stuff to build up in the water in a tank that small, and the water changes make sure the levels don't get too high.

Oh, ok. Thanks for the help! I have been changing the water more frequently because of the small tank, and since it is slightly bigger, I will do as you recommended! :)

Let us know how it goes! If that doesn't help, you may need a bit of medication to help the fins grow back, but warm, clean water should help
