Exclamation His face is turning white!!

Today, I noticed my betta Plunger was acting strange. He kept hiding, and didnt want to preform his tricks to receive food, and has been sleeping a lot. I just noticed that under his jaw and to the beginning of his stomach, he is turning white. What is the cause of this?

The water is treated.

Have you tested the water for ammonia, nitrites & nitrates? That's where I'd start. I don't know how long your tanks been set up or if it has a filter. You'll need to provide more info for us to help. Tank size? Water change schedule? Water parameters? Temp? Tank mates? Feedin schedule & brand of food, how much each day? Can you post a pic?

I have a 5 gallon filtered tank.

I dont have any water testers. (I ran out)

no tank mates.

Water should be around 76 (room temp is 78)

i feed 7 pellets (in 2-3 meals) of omega buffet pellets

25% water change weekly

Was the tank cycled before you put him in? Or are you cycling with fish?

When i got the fish, the tank was half full, so the gravel still had BB. So i guess it would be re-cycling but with gravel and decor that already had BB

I have this heater - 100 watts. I put it on the lowest setting. Is this okay, or will it make the water too hot?
