what to do ?

so my first pair of betta's spawned today.. i took the female out as soon as she finished laying... and going from youtube videos was told to separate the male from the eggs..

is this correct or do i leave the male with the eggs till they hatch ?

Leave the male in. He will eat all the bad eggs. When they hatch they will bounce up and down under the nest, still keep him in. Take him out when the fry are free swimming around the tank which will take a few days.

i have one more question ... and that is .. how do you know when the female has finished laying ? my female still looks full of eggs and i left them for a few hours and come back and she was resting on a leaf and there was at least 100+ eggs in the bubbles so i thought she was done.
