wow thanks for all that info!

as of right now, I have no filter.
The guy at the store said it wasn't mandatory for a betta but said to come back if I decided to make that leap.

The people at Petsmart/Petco said that they very very rarely get 5 gallon glass tanks in.

Luckily, I found a local fish store that had them - $15! perfect!
but i had to get the top separately. I dont remember how much I paid for the top.

Ted seems to be pretty happy in his new setup. All I need is more plants and maybe one more hiding spot.

Now my next question is:

How often do I change his water? and do I change all of it? or just some of it?

I don't know if its a good deal or not since I don't know much about those kind of things but I like the black one.

I guess it all depends on what you want. I'm cheap and don't have the money anyway to be into appearances so all my stands are either homemade or bought off craigslist with the tank!

I use that site to buy supplies. So far I am very happy with them :)

I have a 25 watt non adjustable heater and I think that'd be fine for a 5 gallon. It used to heat my one gallon and now it heats my 10 gallon.

Test the river rocks by putting a drop of vinegar on them before adding them to the tank. Also rinse them in water.

**Oops. Sorry. Didn't see that it was two years old.
