Is your wife's tank cycled? Are you planning on cycling yours?

Check your pH. I've heard that crowntails get curled rays if the pH is too high.

Ours both should be cycled. I've been getting a lot of help from a local hobby group forum that's local). My wifes tank was overstocked and we were seeing ammonia levels around 6ppm. After numerous water changes and getting my tank set up (and taking in some of her creatures) it seemed to finally balance out.
