Fry Food

Okay, so when my betta pair mate, I'm wondering what to feed the fry. I am almost positive my pet store does not sell brine shrimp eggs as I've looked before. Is there anything else to feed them? Can I feed them frozen baby brine shrimp or just frozen brine shrimp? I heard about using egg yolk before and I was wondering also what the mixture is and if I could use it as a live food substitute. Could I maybe use finely crushed pellets as well? I really want to breed my betta successfully but I don't know if I can acquire live food. IF it is the only option I will do my best to get some, but I'd rather see other options first. I'm not breeding my bettas to make money, I'm doing it as a hobby.

You need live food. You will not be successful without it. You can order brine shrimp eggs online. You can feed egg yolk suspension, but not exclusively... The rest of the foods you listed will not work.

If you would like I may be able to ship you a starter culture of microworms and banana worms, I would give them to you for free if you paid shipping. Pm me if you would like me to try to work out how much shipping would be.

Thank you so much for the offer :) but I think I'll order some off of amazon. I found a vial of eggs for $5. How can I hatch them? how big of a bowl/tank should I hatch them in?

I had a really fantastic realization. My little sister has a BUNCH of seamonkeys. Seamonkeys are brine shrimp. I'm sure she wouldn't notice if I snagged a few to breed so my fry can have the baby brine shrimp.

Ordering and hatching the eggs will give you much better results. To hatch them, put about 1/4 tsp in a 2l container with dechlorinated water and 1 tbsp rock or aquarium salt, put in an airstone, turn it on, and wait about 48 hours. Keep it as warm as you can, 80 degrees idealy.

And microworms aren't really something you can order of of amazon lol.

Well, I suppose you could get away without one... You would need to squirt air in fairly often with a turkey baster though.
