Could I Use This?

I found this old worn away brick at my great-grandfather's old farm. I was wondering if I could use it in my tank. If I can how would I treat it? Here are some pics.

Hmmm I wouldn't really feel safe putting it in my tank unless you knew for sure that is hasn't been in contact with any chemical sprays etc.

Early bricks were made with anything on hand and some even had lead; especially if it had ever been painted. I would say "no" to be safe. However, as I love old brickwork, I would use it as a bookend or display it somewhere near my tank. I have some pre-Civil War fireplace bricks I display.

Thank you veggiegirl and RusselTheShihtzu I won't use it in my tank then If it could harm the fish.I might try your idea Russel and use it as a bookend.

I think people who have a tangible piece of their history are extremely fortunate. So glad you and your children will have a remembrance of your ancestors.

PS: You might want to either attach a note or write directly on it where it was found so its meaning to the family doesn't get lost.
