Sorry to resurrect this thread, but I'm still very unsure about his gender and tail type... Exactly two weeks after getting him, here is an updated picture. I think I might see a little white skin tag-looking thing between his ventral and anal fin, but it's hard to see because his belly is white anyways. Could this be an egg spot?

Also I'm wondering about his growth...He's still an inch and a half long, about how big he was when I got him, and rather scrawny. I've been feeding him 3 OmegaOne pellets each day, do you guys think I should up the feeding to help him grow? Or will he always just be this runt-like size? I don't mind it, I actually think he's cute. Just wondering if there was something I could do to help my little guy out!

Is it just a trick of the light, or is he really pale now? Has he always been that pale, or was he red before? He looks skinny as well. How often do you feed him and how much?

He's always been that pale, actually. His fins are partially translucent, so he can look a deed red or a pale orange depending on his background. I feed him omegaOne - 3 pellets per day.

Oh, ok. Maybe you can try to feed him twice a day? Try to fatten him up.

Sounds good. I fed him 3 pellets this morning, and I just fed him another. I'm really wary of overfeeding him, though. He is healthy. He swims around, has quite the appetite, and interacts with me. His poo looks normal too.

That's good. I just want to make sure that he's plump and healthy. He might just have a high metabolism. As long as he doesn't look like he's going to explode, he's fine. xD

Young males can also have egg spots so that's not a reliable way but he looks like a male to me, body is too streamline to be a female. But yes you can feed up to how much he'll eat in about 30 seconds or so. My little boy Aero was tiny when I got him and I actually had to split up my NLS pellets to feed him. Now he takes one whole and I feed him about 8-10 pellets in one day though, then he's got the rest of the 24-ish hours to digest and metabolize his food so I have no worries of constipation/bloating.

It's really hard to overfeed Omega and NLS, like you'd have to give them 20+ to do that so you can feed right up to 10 pellets in one sitting just fine. I do prefer doing one feeding a day so that they do have that 24 hour period, it makes it easier on them. But you may want to split that up to certainly fatten him up and then once he's stockier then you can go to like 6-8 pellets a day. For most of my young boys I do 6-8 pellets, older boys that are a year and older get 3-4 and then my constipated DT gets 2-3 a day

He'll be fine once you feed him more and no worries bout resurrecting a thread, I like when updates come along!
